Healthcare Reform & The BS of both sides...

To those of you who know me, I'm tired of hearing that health care is busted, aren't you?
I've got problems with both sides on this issue--The Democrats who say we need a very expensive and potentially budget busting plan AND the Republicans who say we should leave everything to market forces. Again, we all know that the system is BUSTED!!!!

That being said--There are things on both sides that I agree with
We do need health care reform. PERIOD
We DO NOT need everything the Democrats propose
We DO NEED to do something, unlike what the Republicans say
Finding efficiencies is a MUST
Getting rid of fraud and waste is a NECESSITY
Covering EVERY American should be an option (for those that can afford to self-insure, let them, and for those that think they are immortal, well, let them try and prove nature wrong)
Leaving things the way they are is going to RUIN the American way of life!
Changing them too radically will also RUIN the American way of life!

As someone who has had great health insurance, crappy health insurance & NO health insurance whatsoever, I will say that as the system sits, I know eventually it will bankrupt us. But if we go too far in the opposite direction, that system will also bankrupt us. We need to find the right balance and the time is NOW!

There are those who say that insurance reform and limiting lawyers fees are a way to go, but then you also need malpractice reform, and legal reform (which is what brought about the insurance problems in the first place). Mistakes are inherent in a system that is based on the "practice" of medicine (notice it's not Running or Operation of medicine, because it's always evolving and will continue to do so because its the practice of medicine that allows procedures to be perfected and improved upon). You cannot allow a legal system that gives unrealistic rewards to someone that has been damaged unintentionally (thereby creating the legal lottery we have in the USA) by an operation or process in the blink of a second. Notice I said unintentionally--if they do it with malice, then by all means throw the book and everything else at them...

On the other extreme, the proposal is to take over everything, but then again, how has that worked in the past? Public Schools, US Postal Service, Medicare/Medicaid, etc... I can see that money pit now....

Someone come up with something sensible, please!!!!!!!
